That’s right — we’ve officially hit Episode 40! This week’s Everyday Life episode is packed with dad chaos, laughs, and catching up on what’s been going on in our worlds.
We kick things off with Nick’s kiddos dueling like it’s The Hunger Games, before diving into some of the games we’ve been playing recently. Then it’s on to life updates: Nick’s crew are back in school which means the return of routines, and of course Noah changing his mind (again!) on his sweet treat of choice.
Meanwhile, Sean is in full holiday prep mode, fresh from moving Jaia out of her uni residence for a few weeks and juggling all the family tasks that come with dad duty.
It’s a milestone episode, and it’s full of the usual banter, laughs, and dad-life updates you’ve come to expect.

This week, we dive into the tough moments of parenting — when kids test limits, don’t listen, and sometimes leave mum and dad on opposite sides of the fence. Nick shares a real-life story that sparks our chat about how disagreements can lead to bickering in front of the kiddos.
We talk openly about:
How kids push boundaries (and why it’s normal)
The importance of backing each other up as parents
Healthy ways to resolve differences without letting it spill into family tension
Because at the end of the day, parenting isn’t about being perfect — it’s about working together to build a stronger family.

This week’s Everyday Life episode is packed with updates, laughs, and the usual dad banter!
We kick things off with an update on our Robinhood investment journey — are we up? are we down? let’s just say the stock market rollercoaster is real. Sean talks about his love-hate relationship with Balatro+ and how he’s found a new favorite in Grounded 2 on Xbox.
Then the tables turn as Nick shares his attempt at repairing the family dryer… which somehow leads to a Vicks vs Vaseline mix-up story you won’t want to miss. 🤦‍♂️
Outside of that, it’s been work, family, and keeping the kids entertained. With Nick’s holidays wrapping up and Sean’s just beginning, it’s safe to say dad life never slows down!

The summer break is officially over, which means it’s time to swap lazy mornings for alarm clocks and coffee on the go.
We dive into the dad life realities of:
Earlier bedtimes (and the negotiations that come with them)
Making packed lunches that might come home half-eaten
School drop-offs and the parking lot shuffle
The morning rush — socks missing, shoes on the wrong feet, and homework suddenly remembered at the door
Finding that one clean uniform… five minutes before you leave
Relearning how to function before 8am without losing your cool
If you’re in the trenches of the school year kick-off, you’ll feel this one.

This week’s Everyday Life episode gets a little video game heavy! 🎮
Nick’s been deep in the blocky world of Minecraft, while Sean’s finally finished collecting all those “oh bananas” and is eyeing up what to play next — including a top-secret game he can’t reveal just yet. 👀
Once the gaming chatter is out of the way, we catch up on life updates and then take a sharp left turn into finance chat. Yep — we go full Wolf of Wall Street (minus the yachts) and talk about investing a small pot of cash through the Robinhood app, exploring the fun, risk, and curiosity that comes with dipping our toes into the markets.
It’s gaming, life, and a little money talk — all wrapped in our usual banter.

Dad Life 37-2 – Conflict Resolution for Kids: Teaching Calm in the Chaos
This week’s Dad Life episode is all about teaching our kids how to handle conflict—without shouting, storming off, or throwing their sibling’s favourite toy across the room.
We dig into the skills kids need to develop for handling conflict with siblings, friends, classmates — and yes, even parents — and how we, as dads, can lead the way by teaching and modelling these essential tools.
🔧 Key Conflict Resolution Skills & How Dads Can Teach Them:
Active Listening 👂 Show them how to stop, listen, and truly hear what the other person is saying — even when they’re upset. Practice during everyday chats or sibling disagreements.
Naming Emotions 😠😢😊 Kids often act out because they can’t express how they feel. Help them name emotions with phrases like, “You look frustrated — want to talk about it?”
Empathy Building ❤️ “How would you feel if that happened to you?” Simple questions like this help kids learn to see situations from someone else’s point of view.
Taking Responsibility ✅ It’s okay to make mistakes — but owning up is key. Model apologies, even when you mess up. Kids learn so much from watching us.
Finding Solutions Together 🧩 Instead of jumping in to fix everything, guide them in solving their own problems: “What do you think we could do next time?”
Knowing When to Walk Away 🚶‍♂️ Sometimes stepping back is the best move. Teach your kids that it’s okay to pause and cool down before dealing with an issue.
We also share personal stories, parenting wins, and those not-so-glorious fails that come with teaching our kiddos how to stay calm in chaos.

It’s all the dad banter, laughs, and relatable randomness you’ve come to expect from two dads living on opposite sides of the world — but walking the same wild parenting path.

In this week’s Dad Life episode, we’re diving deep into something we touched on at the end of Monday’s episode — parenting guilt when you leave the kids behind. Whether it’s a weekend away, a pint with mates, or just a solo Tesco run with your headphones in, that voice creeps in: “Should I be here?”
We explore:
What really counts as “time away” — solo time vs. partner-only time
Why dad guilt often feels different from mum guilt
That moment you get sent a photo of a tantrum while sipping your pint 😬
The difference between healthy detachment and just avoiding the chaos
Generational shifts in guilt — did our parents even feel it?!
Funny guilt moments gone wrong (FaceTime bedtime, anyone?)
Reframing the guilt so you come back refreshed, not ashamed
How kids actually process your absence (hint: sometimes they’re fine!)
Partner dynamics and the dreaded invisible scoreboard
And most importantly, why it’s okay — and actually good — for your kids to see you take a break
We wrap with a big message: taking space doesn’t make you less of a dad — it helps you be a better one. If you’ve ever felt the guilt tug, this episode’s for you.

This week’s Everyday Life episode is full of laughs, stories, and classic dad banter as we dive into what’s been going on in our corners of the world.
🍌 Donkey Kong Bananza – We share our first impressions and early adventures with the new game, including the different ways we’re playing it (and why Sean might be playing it the “Dad way”).
🎒 School’s Out – Sean’s officially in summer break mode with the kids, and he gives the lowdown on what they’ve been up to, how they’re keeping busy, and how long it took before someone said, “I’m bored.”
🧳 Nick: The Stowaway – Nick snuck away with his wife for a kid-free break while the grandparents stepped in for babysitting duty! He shares what he’s been up to (spoiler: it’s not just naps and Netflix) and what recharging without the kiddos feels like.
🍞 Lola Lives! – Lyndsey’s sourdough starter is back in action as the house fills with the smell of freshly baked goodies. Sean shares the baking frenzy and how it’s taken over the kitchen — and maybe their lives a little.
🏆 Competitive Spouses Unite – We both take a moment to reflect on just how competitive our wives can be — from board games to baking showdowns, there’s no such thing as a “casual win” in our homes!
Add in the usual off-track tangents, laughter, and dad-level side quests, and you’ve got another warm, funny, and relatable Everyday Life episode of DX.

🏠 Dad vs. Smart Home Tech – From voice assistants that ignore you to robot vacuums with a vendetta against your toes, we're losing the tech war one command at a time.
🍫 The Great Snack Debate – Why can kids destroy 14 snack bars in 5 minutes but can't finish three bites of dinner?
🦸 Dad Reflexes – Real-life superpower or parenting myth? We're talking mid-air nappy saves and late-night LEGO dodges like it’s an Olympic event.
🔇 Do kids sense silence? – The moment you sit down, breathe, or press record… chaos arrives. Every. Time.
